Bringing you the latest on our favorite plagiarist

I really do think the last week in April should hereby be called "Fake Writer Week," in honor of Gawker's tagging of every Kaavya Viswanathan story as "Fake Writer Day." I love it. But since I'm obsessed, I figured I might as well bring you the latest.

First, there's the news that Sloppy Firsts ain't the only book that Kaavya dipped into for inspiration.

Then, there's Salman Rushdie slamming her. You know when that happens your career as a serious writer is dunzo.

Then there's another "change the nouns and no one will know it's exactly the same"-style passage in the book that mimics a passage from The Princess Diaries and, speaking of Mr. Rushdie, a few passages that could have been cribbed from his book as well. (To be fair, this article clarifies that signs similar to those found in both Haroun and the Sea of Stories and Opal Mehta are all over India and so that may not blatantly stolen.)

The Harvard article also points out that DreamWorks has halted production on her movie. No shit?

Also, doesn't this make you feel good about that SAT class you took in high school and that one time your dad helped you with your school project? In comparison to kids who go to IvyWise college counseling, you totally pulled yourself up by your own bootstraps.

Whoops.
Is this a post-colonial problem?
Woo! Finally a real list.
